What to Write in a Greeting Card

In today's digital age of text messages, social media, and emails, a simple, yet personal message tucked inside a tangible greeting card is an exceptionally thoughtful way to say "I care, I'm thinking of you, thank you, or even happy birthday."

General guidelines for writing notes that show you care:

  1. Show that your card is specially selected for a specific recipient by beginning with his or her name.
  2. Even if the card states the occasion on the front, or the inside verse, restate the reason with a personal note.
  3. Add a sentence or two that speaks specifically to the recipient. A casual tone is suitable for family and friends, while a formal tone is more appropriate for business relationships.
  4. Don't forget to include your name! You know it's from you, make sure they do, too!
